Alex Wolford
Elite Level Student & Soccer Player
About Alex Wolford
I am an elite level soccer player in the class of 2027, who specializes on team defense & 1v1 defending, use my size and speed to shut down opponents and create quick counter attacks, and have a high Soccer IQ with vision to create or build from the back. I am an elite level student who prioritizes classwork and performance above all else. This is evident in my achieving a grade of 4 on 3 AP exams as a Freshman & Sophomore, completing 6 AP courses, combined with my 4.12 GPA and course load of almost all Honors and Advanced classes.
I am a versatile player who has played as a defensive midfielder, center back, outside back, and wing back. I enjoy shutting down offensive players and using my speed and creativity to help my team score. I am always willing to play whatever position my team needs me to. In High School I usually play as the center back to track down any runner on through balls or as the 6 to stop attacks and recover the ball in the midfield. In club I play outside back to stop the fastest opponents and make overlapping runs to create chances and score. This past year in club I played as a wing back all season for the first time where I had the most goals and assists of any non-striker. I have experience playing various formations; 3-5-2, 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-3-2-1.
I have also spent Summers training in Sevilla, Spain for the Sevilla FC Academy and the Real Betis Academy. At 12 years old I was offered a spot on the Sevilla FC Academy but my family could not move to Spain permanently and did not want to leave me to live with relatives so far away.
